I’ve been forced to adapt to the new world. My private life, my health, my business, my friendships, they’ve all had to change. I’m not alone in that, you’ve been affected too.
I wanted to pivot quickly and use my skills as an Environment Consultant and UN SDG enthusiast to run a useful and actionable half-day course for those who wanted to better understand their business, their relationship with the Sustainable Development Goals, and how it all ties in with Covid-19.
The SDG workshop
I felt that it was pertinent to compose and deliver the course as quickly as possible, to ensure that individuals and professionals could react and respond to the new world sooner rather than later.
I wanted my delegates to achieve these outcomes:
- Explain what the Sustainable Development Goals are
- Understand how the SDGs relate and connect to each other
- Understand the targets and sub-goals associated with the 17 SDGs
- Map existing CSR/ESG programmes in their businesses or lives against the SDGs
- Develop and SDG-focused action plan with targets and KPIs
- See how Covid-19 connects to their position in the sustainable world
Helping delegates in this workshop is another part of Imvelo’s continued contribution towards supporting the SDGs. Another way I’ve been supporting SDGs 4 and 5 is by signing up to 1MM (onemissionmentors.org.uk) where I’ve been mentoring a 22-year-old aspiring Environmental Consultant. She has just graduated from university and has an upcoming placement as a Single-Use Plastic Officer.
Other workshops I’ve been hosting
To further demonstrate my interest and commitment to the UN’s sustainable development goals, I’ve been hosting events that also contribute to SDGs 8, 11, and 13. Here’s what I’ve been up to:
14th May 2020 – iIRSM event on ‘Leading Sustainability and Ethically (Post Covid-19)’
11th June 2020 – BESS event on ‘How Construction Could Save the World‘
- My Presentation
- Social Media post one and post two
Joseph’s testimonial
“I found out about the event through LinkedIn and I felt it was perfect timing to attend a remote event that looked at sustainability, making progress during COVID 19, and better understanding where I fit into the new world. Thanks to the SWOT analysis I was able to see things more clearly. Along with the other attendees, we were able to get a better look at the SDGs and get some expert advice from Tamma, who has an abundance of knowledge on them all.”
There will be more online workshops
I will be developing remote courses of all shapes and sizes over the coming weeks and months, but for now, this SDG workshop is the flagship and I invite you wholeheartedly to take part.
